Around the World in One Camera

PROJECT EXHIBIT - June 25th, PMA in CHICAGO

Camera has arrived to Colombia

Filed under: General — Ricardo at 7:22 am on Tuesday, September 12, 2006

After some days of waiting, our traveler arrived to Colombia in good shape. Full of tales, the camera traveled along The Andes from South to North and arrived to Bogotá in a box with objects, photos, coins and regards from others participants. It’s much beautiful that I could have ever imagine. Before to cross The Atlantic Ocean to go to Madrid, I will take a picture of this passionate city. As Felipe, I don’t have experience with this kind of cameras, but I will do my best to send all of you a beautiful memory picture from Colombia.

Remember that you have only 3 days to perform your task. Please send it by Fed Ex or UPS so it gets to the next participant in a few dasys.

Hello Romeo (or Omar?),
Spanish I never learned and I had 40 years ago my last English lesson at school. Most I forgott, but a little bit is still in my brain.
It was a great idea let travel a camera round the world. Thanks to Wojtek!
I’ve another idea: a lot of photographers take a shot at a defined time - maybee 04:00 pm GMT; Mexico City is the time 10:00 am and in Moskow it is 07:00 pm!
You understand?
Than the photographers send a Mail with the picture to me or to annother and there is a page with photos taken at the same time (+/- 5 Minutes?)around the world.
Greetings from Germany (the land of Leica..)
Hans

It sounds to be an excellent idea.

You know?
Something that I like from this project is the fact being done entirely on Film Format basis; Nowadays, most of the people is only taking pictures in Digital Format, which is very good, but it tends to support more and more an environmet of a Robot World.
Around the world in one camera has its merit because of its mere nature of being an ANALOG photo project; it also means that no one has a real idea for sure about the outcome…
The fact that the camera might (and hopefully not) get lost somewhere in the line of duty makes it even a stronger event full of feellings and why not say it? Also full of hope…

I reckon that everybody in the ‘crew’, also shares my thoughts, and if not, it will always be valid whatever the project might mean for them in a respectfull way.

Hoping the camera leaves to Spain in no time, I wish you all good luck in whatever you are doing…

Well spoken!
It is a great challenge to make only one shot with an anloge camera.
You are right with your words about the Robot World. I remember by the way the movie MATRIX.
Have a good day.
Greetings from Germany
